Uganda

I find it amusing that less than two weeks ago I was showering in the sympathy and adoration that was being shown my way for the great sacrifice I was making. I was going to downgrade my entire way of life to head to Uganda to help the children. Now that I am here, that is so far beyond truthful, that I actually feel slightly guilty for basking in any of the praise. I think I should probably make a point to call everyone that I unknowingly deceived and apologize. My so-called downgrade has landed me in a gorgeous tropical getaway. It is quite possibly the nicest place that I have ever stayed. Picture a cross between housing built in the style of the Swiss Family Robinson and a beachfront bungalow.

My second home away from home is also great. I share a two-bedroom apartment with Enoch, one of the Christopher House founders.

The food has been outrageously good. Tonight we had meatballs that were larger than my fist, which I will be the 1st to admit, does not mean much, but they did at least look massive in my tiny hands.

I feel like I should have prefaced all of this by letting you know that I have spent the last 6 months living in the corner of a garage. Yes, my full address is 4349 Benham room with the giant metal door, across from the ping-pong table, behind the spare tires, Salem, USA. Strangely, I rarely get mail.

To further put this Ugandan downgrade into perspective, it is also important for you to know that in general I survive off the delectable duo of culinary mastery, eggs and spinach.

Furthermore, I have access to blazing fast internet, which is as necessary as cable tv, tweets, and water. Actually, I still don’t really know what a tweet is, and I rarely watch tv, but internet is either level with, or one rung higher than water on the ladder of life’s necessities.

So it has been amazing thus far. I am a week behind in my blog, but this way I can give you a preview of next weeks blog, which I have entitled “The Joys of Salmonella”….

Salmonella sucks!!!

The beginning of the end

Since I haven't been able to make myself write my thoughts, experiences and what not in the countless journals that have passed through my hands, I have decided to go against all my better judgement and join the blogging community. I am now forced to eat the thousands of mean comments that I have directed towards bloggers and blogging in general as well as the few snide remarks that I have made aimed at my girlfriend and other loved ones who have embarked on the blogging journey. In order to keep even a slight semblance of my previous dignity I have called this a travel journal and thus I will write about my travels to avoid the treacherous  of writing about such girlish things as feelings.

I am in Israel.

Well, thats about it for now, hopefully I will get back to this soon, but it mostly depends on my access to both internet and electricity while I am in Uganda.
My love goes out to all my readers. God Bless.
